Question about resale?

I have a GMC Sierra 1500 2WD. Its Summit White. Stock. I was looking to trade it in at a dealer ship but just thought of this question. I paid about 22,000 for it BRAND NEW like 2-3 years ago. It has like 60k miles atm. Would I get more out of it taking it back to the dealership OR could I actually make more buy putting on some luxury aftermarket accessories and selling it privately. Like could I make my money back plus some buy replacing all handles, even tailgate and gas panel cover with chrome, towing mirrors, fender flares, trim, etc. or would I actually waste time and lose money by doing that?
